MARK MOORE GALLERY IS PLEASED TO PRESENT ITS SECOND EXHIBITION OF RECENT WORKS BY TEXAS-BASED ARTIST VERNON FISHER, FROM SEPTEMBER 8 - OCTOBER 14, 1995.

VERNON FISHER RENDERS THE ACTIVITIES OF THE BRAIN; UTILIZING A “BLACKBOARD” GROUND SIMILAR TO THOSE FOUND IN CLASSROOMS, FISHER’S IMAGERY IS BEST LIKENED TO THOUGHTS THAT OCCUR, ARE REGISTERED, AND PASS INTO THE SUBCONCIOUS; COMBINED WITH PAINTED “ERASURES”, FISHER’S DISPARATE IMAGERY AND TEXTS VISUAL THE MERCURIAL NATURE OF MEMORY AND DESIRE.

VERNON FISHER WAS THE RECIPIENT OF A 1995 GUGGENHEIM FOUNDATION GRANT; HIS WORK IS IN THE PERMANENT COLLECTIONS OF THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY MUSEUM OF ART, THE SAN DIEGO MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART, THE MUSEUM OF MODERN ART, NEW YORK, AND OTHERS.
