Press Release

Mark Moore Gallery is pleased to present four works by Los Angeles based artist Robert Therrien.

One of America’s pre-eminent artists, Therrien is an artist who is not satisfied with qualifying his works as either painting or sculpture, as abstract or representational. Investigating a limited vocabulary of images for the last twenty years in a variety of scales, materials, and nuance, Therrien invests a subtle, contemplative poetry to shapes that have captured the artist for their personal resonances.

The four works presented in the Mark Moore Gallery exhibition, while similar in shape, vary in scale, material, and date (Therrien often returns to specific imagery, and will manipulate and experiment with individual works for several years).

Robert Therrien was the subject of a one-person exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, in 1984, at the age of 36; a one-person exhibition was presented at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid in 1991-92
